1. Resume Writing: A good resume of your skills is the key to getting an interview. This is number one on our list because it needs to be number one on yours. There are some very important aspects to writing any resume and having a felony conviction can make it more of a challenge so utilize the resources we have found for you to better improve your opportunity. Based on our research a Skills Based or Functional resume will get the best results. We've included a couple examples and some links to places that can break it down for you.
2. The Interview: You've landed the interview but your work isn't done yet. You need to prepare yourself. You will need to research the company and come up with some questions you can ask during the interview. You will need to have answers prepared that you can give for the basic questions you will be asked. Finally, you will need to practice talking to someone about yourself. Don't get discouraged, its not as difficult as it sounds.
3. The Follow-Up: Traditionally you send a Thank You note to your interviewer(s) within 24 hours after your interview. It's a great way to reinforce that you are very interested in the position and gives you one more opportunity to connect. Our research suggests that either an actual letter or an email are equally effective. There are some important elements you want to include in your Thank You note.
